Time for a year-end mystery
Where did all the time go?
There are so few clues
The whole thing simply boggles me
No one seems to know
I guess I'll play some tunes.

Non-Christmas music at nine
Get the menorah and the laktes
Hanukkah is here again.
(And if you bring a little vodka
I will be your life-long friend.)

A pick-up set for a good cause
Only three months have gone by
It seems it's gone too soon!
Happy birthday, Occupy,
Here, have some protest tunes.

Smells like holiday spirit at nine...
Well, here we are.
A scant nine days remain before we unwrap presents
(A mere four before we start lighting candles)
How un-Christian could next week be?
(And how Christian is it now?)

We'll start plotting this joy at nine
Shake some tush; wiggle a hip
Somewhere between stocking and tree
It's time to mock cold winter's grip
With our own warm conspiracy.

It's time to mock cold winter's grip
With our own warm conspiracy.

The man, the myth, the marathon, the masochist
I had no set to play this eve
No rush to record bumps today
Time's a gift to give away
'Tis better to give than receive
And Maht's still playing, even now
Running through his marathon
Raising money, so come on!
Help the dear donate a cow.

A very private function starts at eight
Can you believe it?
It's been six years already
I need a new hat
On this quiet day
I'll have the club to myself
Yep, allllllll to myself.

Some kind of insurrection at 9
Tomorrow's the 5th of November
A day we're all meant to remember.
Tonight is bombs, explosions, and guns
(All set to music. Should be fun.)

An hour early, so you can go to bed tired
I could have gone for full-bore weird
(Tiger Lillies, Residents)
But then the dance floor would have cleared
And gone to other appointments.
I could have played more fifties kitsch
Because that sort of thing is fun
But, that's such a tiny niche
Soon, I'd be playing to none.
But what about if dance and dub
Musically dominates?
I mean, come on! This IS a club!
And this spider's spinning at eight.

Tap into music at 9
Another Friday's here again
And Halloween is coming soon.
Tonight is songs along that vein,
And maybe other "darling" tunes.

And maybe other "darling" tunes.

Shape-changing shenanigans at 9
Two weeks down and two to go
Before that holiday of gloom.
I'll play some songs that you might know
And other, sundry, spooky tunes.
(Tonight's a wolves and witches show
And maybe we'll throw in some moon.)

The uncanny valley of the shadow of death at 9
Tonight, I've got stuff that's cool
About ghosts, zombies, and ghouls.
They say Halloween's for the dead
Or maybe that's something I read.

Try to eat something BEFORE nine
I hope you brought your appetite
We're doing a thing at the club
All swapping recipes tonight
And dancing to songs about grub.

We go super-urban downtown at 9
I know the place I like to be
I know where I belong
If I venture into the country
I make sure not stay long
So tonight, I celebrate cities
With an assortment of songs
I know where I belong
If I venture into the country
I make sure not stay long

Let's see what you've got at nine
There are the body-building types
Who bother lifting weights
And then plastic surgery addicts
Who trim off what they hate.
But! there is an simpler way
To look good, if you can.
Frankenstein had it all wrong.
It's clothes that make the man.

I realize how much of my life I wasted at nine
The notices really started in '08
I'd spit out my little rhymes
Some of them were genius (and some not so great)
Announcing a theme and the time
I was one of the few playing jazz
When I started four years ago.
Later on, I was following Az,
Who'd play anything, as you know
And so I go on, doing my little thing
Watching the crowds ebb and flow
Hoping maybe that the notice might bring
Folks to the club. But you know...?
I'd play if the crowd numbers only one.
I don't play for money or fame, but for fun.

Send Texas rain at nine
Just looking at Twitter now. Hey!
Some kind of weather's trending.
Looks like folks up New York way
Have wind and rain impending.
(Meanwhile, it was 100 today
So I guess summer's ending.)

We'll try to forget about next week at nine
Be happy, and then relax some
A week of drudgery is done.
Enjoy yourself! Come out an play
A return to hateful Monday....

Because I need to think things out.
This post is going to involve fake names for real people and real names
for fake places. The odd thing about Second Life is that's how
everything works. Clubs are a lot like chat rooms and what brings people
to spend time in one is based on several factors: the atmosphere of the
club itself, what kind of music is played there, and the type of people
you're likely to interact with.
We'll start that up at nine (11 Central)
A lazy DJ
Knows that a poem is lost
Settles on haiku
Oriental songs
(Or at least, songs from Asia)
Will be tonight's theme
Knows that a poem is lost

Oriental songs
(Or at least, songs from Asia)
Will be tonight's theme

There's a thing at nine. Always, a thing.
What is it about weekends
That's different from other days?
(I'll wager that sleeping in
Is one of many ways.)
And so, with that in mind
It's music that I plays.

It's just a 30-minute waiting game
Another month has passed us by
Another week is gone
Another day is in the past
Another hour withdrawn.
That, however, is not my theme.
Come down at nine and dance with me.
Another week is gone

Come down at nine and dance with me.

Bring a tree at nine
Christmas was eight months ago!
Now, it's mean and hot.
Come on down and throw some snow
And we'll pretend it's not.

The secret theme was Smith and Jones
Constant themes is such a myth
(Unlike my little weekly prose)
But come and down and dance with
And I'll play music, I suppose.

And I'll play music, I suppose.

The fireworks ban starts at eight
It's the first! and rent is due
But first, let's rally round the flag.
We'll hit the first and the fourth, too
In Second Life, with all its lag.

Ninja Noise at Nine!
Now wrapping up the end of June
I suppose I shall resume
My playing of the Ninja Tune.
I hope to see you very soon.

My playing of the Ninja Tune.
I hope to see you very soon.

Get 'er done!
It's all supposed to start at eight
But hope that you will forgive me.
I got going a tad late,
So things are starting immediately!

The audience is invisible at eight
Tonight, I'll play my regular time
Songs from a label called "Ninja".
(You didn't think I could find a rhyme
For that, now didja?)

So, remember: that's at NINE
Again, I'll play a delayed set
(It works out better, don't forget)
And maybe, later on I'll play
Those "thrilling" songs from yesterday.

Make sure you turn out the lights at nine
Gosh, is it that time again?
It happens now so frequently.
At least once a generation,
Someone makes that prophesy.
And, if the world doesn't end,
It makes for pleasant mockery.

At least once a generation,
Someone makes that prophesy.
And, if the world doesn't end,

And that worked out very well
Tonight, the set is starting late
I'm pushing back the time
So instead of playing at eight
I'm going to play at nine
I'm pushing back the time
So instead of playing at eight
I'm going to play at nine
Saturday, May 7, 2011
How can I miss you if you won't go away?
I'm back at it again
Home from my little hiatus
And ready to play some music.
So in that vein,
I'll update my status
And perform my little trick.

It's not an April Fool's joke
I'm out the rest this month.
I have some things I need to do
So I'll be back in May.

I played for an hour
No gig tonight. It's not for me.
For still suffering Japan,
We're having a benefit rally
And urge you to give what you can.

I'll still play some music at eight, however
Hearts and minds go out tonight
For friends and loved ones in the East.
I can't sell Lindens; don't tip me
Instead, donate to some relief.

A tribute to a poor little car at eight
I won't be playing late tonight
I have somewhere to be.
Sometime tomorrow (when it's light)
To replace my dead baby.

BIG plans at eight
I have a mild fever.
We've had a little snow.
Some dinky game is being played...
Here this weekend, you know.
It looks like it's six inches.
I think I have the flu.
The Superbowl you say? No way!
Come listen to some tunes.

Competition? Donation...Promotion!
An oddity tonight, so you know,
I'm giving some time to the Crow.
(Next week, it's a normal set
At my home base, the dear Velvet.)
I don't think doing this is wrong.
Competition makes us strong.
And after their recovery
Maybe they'll do the same for me?
I'm giving some time to the Crow.

In thirty minutes or so
I have a treat for you.

It's just a thing I do.)

An old sound for a new year
If you've got some extra time,
Maybe dancing's your thing?
I'm going to start a set at nine (11 Central)
That's all electro-swing.
