Good enough at nine

Halloween is here at last!
(Well, it is on Tuesday
But it's really close enough
So we'll say it is anyway)
And soon we'll know the glory
When all that candy goes half-off
And then winter will close in
With sneezing and a bad cough.

Pulling back the curtain at nine

A transformation starts tonight
That comes from deep inside
A thrown-together feeling
That many try to hide
But we would never be so weak
And true selves never show
Throw your head back! Cackle! Howl!
And never fear who knows

Devil take ye at nine

Here we are, the half-way point
And darkness seems its dread increase
Waiting for whom devils appoint
To issue out sweet death's realese
The fear that comes off me and you
Is what feeds their hunger, it would seem
But, what are we going to do?
