paraskavedekatriaphobia

Are you feeling lucky today
Or not quite tossing your good sense away?
Blindly trusting in the goodwill of man
Or fighting and scraping for all that you can?
Rubbing and kissing some old rabbit's feet
Or looking both way before crossing the street?
Do you have it planned or just leave it to fate?
With any luck, the show's starting at eight.
1. Gilbert and Sullivan - Baby Got Back (3:47)

I have a lot of links in today's list. Besides playing songs I have on CD or have ripped from vinyl or tape, or downloaded or ripped from radio streams, I also record the audio from various videos. Sometimes, the best source for the audio is not the best video, so I've seen a lot of bad videos. These tracks that I have to record in this way are "sourced" from YouTube mostly and today I'm linking my sources. Now you know where I get it. I've linked some sources for tracks I did not record off the Yube, so you can kinda follow along through the set.

3. DJ Pantshead vs. Lalo Schifrin vs. Panasonic - The Panosonic Incident (1:48)

"If it's gotta be chicken and you don't like wings; that's ok, we got other things."

5. Nortec Collective - Tengo La Voz (3:44) They also have a pretty kickin' version of Never Let Me Down by Depeche Mode.
6. Laurie Anderson - From The Air (4:35)

And wasn't last week exciting? Lots of things happening! Of course, the really cool news happened on Saturday, one day after my show. I won't ruin it for you, in case you Tivoed it and haven't had a chance to watch it yet.

40. Robert Fripp & Brian Eno - Healthy Colours IV (5:43)

Have I told you the upper-case numbers story? That's really one you need to hear. I pre-record my bumps due to some odd microphone issue that causes wild reverb if I try to talk live during the sets, so sometimes I have a bump that people want me to sent to them. There's an imitation of a customer in this recording, so that might actually have been what she wanted.

42. Nortec Collective - Tijuana Bass (2:58) Another CD I actually own, but this video was one of the reasons I bought it.
43. Dr Flow - Nuestro Presedente (2:31)

56. The Mad Professor - Fast Forward Into Dub (5:10)

I was looking something up online at work late Friday afternoon, specifically the "What's Bugging You?" section of the local Fox 4 TV station. I'm not a fan of national Fox news, but the local station is the only one playing local news when I get up in the morning and I'm only really interested in traffic and weather when I get up. They have a segment they do, "What's Bugging You?", in which they take up cause for you like noisy neighbors or tall grass or a red-light-camera ticket you got while in a funeral procession...stuff like that. But I was looking for a section on how to submit a "bug" because I get this free circular thrown on my lawn once a week and I don't want it and I've contacted the people who make it and they won't call me back and the sign on the lawn saying NO LA ESTRELLA hasn't worked.

But that's what I was looking for. Instead, I found out Tim Russert had died.

"Meet the Press" was what I did with my Sunday mornings rather than going to church. Russert hosted the show for 16 years. His "electoral college white board" is in the Smithsonian. He had 48 honorary doctorates. He actually worked himself to death on this election season--his heart blew up while recording voice-overs for this Sunday's show.

And that's a hard thing to talk about in a pre-recorded bump.

58. Grocho Marx - Hello, I must Be Going (0:55)As culturally insensitive as an old Warner Brothers cartoon. And as funny.
59. Laurie Anderson - Born, Never Asked (4:59)
60. The Art Of Noise - The Holy Egoism Of Genius (7:56)
61. William Shatner - You'll Have Time (5:18)
62. End of Evangelion - Komm, süsser Tod (7:41) I hate this song, but I'm oddly drawn to it. Maybe because it's about the end of the world.
63. Trout Fishing in America - 18 wheels on a big rig (2:10)
64. Peggy Lee - Is That All There Is (4:20)
